Remember that one time With you and I on a winter’s night Sitting on an empty bus Singing Christmas carols for only us Remember standing there On the kitchen floor and our feet were bare Making up some stupid dance That made us laugh though it made no sense at all Remember the way we’d sit in your car And listen to music hour after hour We’d hit the rewind And we’d play that part that made us cry And now we don’t often talk, we don’t keep in touch We’re not really good at writing much But I know, my friend All the memories are on the wind So if we chance to meet There’s a chance we’ll find nothing much has changed And maybe you and I’ll Be reliving all those good old days

Remember when I was a freshman We jumped into the fountain on the square One Thursday evening in the springtime We didn’t take our shoes off, didn’t care Waded and laughed and acted stupid Pretending I was walking on the air I think you thought that I was happy You thought that I was over all of it I think I must’ve played my part well Must’ve had a big smile on my lips I think that it was my first deep cut And I just wasn’t healed yet, I’ll admit How many bodies are walking wounded How many smiles are disguising pain If there is so much underneath our surface Can we be made new again And life is kind of like a painter With a palette full of reds and grays Who fills our youth with fresh new brushstrokes Of the oranges and crimsons he portrays Yet as we grow he adds more layers And turns the canvas rusty in the haze How many bodies are walking wounded How many smiles are disguising pain If there is so much underneath our surface Can we be made new again

To the Robin 03:50
To the sun said the moon I’d be nothing without you Shine your light upon me And illumine endlessly To the robin said the tree Come and make your nest in me Find your shelter in my arms I will keep you safe from harm To the ocean said the fish Could you grant me this one wish Just to swim in your deep blue And never find the end of you To the mountain said the bird In your heights I’ll be assured I can see beyond the hills Into everything that is You’re the sun and you’re the tree You’re the mountain and the sea There’s so much that you could be You are everything to me

i recognize myself in the moon her craters speak to my scars & her satellite existence reminds me of my own invisible cords i wonder if she also longs to break away & go spinning off to explore the galaxies

Sabbath 03:46
So much buzzing around me Could I ever be still now Could I ever be still now before the Lord So much hurry and worry Could I ever be still now Could I ever be still now before the Lord Am I the mover and shaker who makes it all go Am I the god who is keeping it all in control Or am I a petulant child who can never be still now Could I ever be still now before the Lord Is my life a series of projects To be checked off some list now Could I ever be still now before the Lord Has living my days in this way Really been so bad til now Rarely stopping to still now before the Lord I clothe myself in the thick garment of all that I do It covers me up like a shield that protects me from who I might be If I cease the running will my imperfections just spill out So afraid to be still now before the Lord If you put holes in this shield what am I If you take this garment away what am I

Her Story 04:17
Life is so very nice She has a well-paying job She’s mother and she’s wife Hello, ducks all in a row Only were their feathers Ever ruffled once or twice Said she got what she wanted She’s checked all the boxes off That were in her head No she’s never been displeased She knows she’s a lucky girl But still, nagging regret Is this it Is this her story What’s the point of it all Where is truth Where is glory And what’s the point of it all How many more days can she Sustain this temporary definition of What she was made for Is she just making mud pies by the seashore Today might just be the day Cause the sky’s inviting her To up and fly away

In Season 04:19
A restless heart that longs to chart Its path through every season To see the end of curves and bends With confidence and reason To have, to keep security To hold the pen while writing The storyline it has in mind To satiate its longing Breathe in the air that’s everywhere Of slowness and a patience grand The lilac tree without hurry It bears its blooms in season The fruiting vine in fullest time It will burst forth in season Each moment drifts along the wind That carries us through seasons These days will fly and pass us by So do not rush this season
